Unpacking the beauty of automation
Opposites attract. In fact, as a terribly clumsy person, I have always been fascinated by the rhythmic, precise and balanced movements of industrial machinery. Thus, I was already thrilled as we reached our destination, where our video producer, a colleague and myself would film an innovative, fully automated sealing machine.
What I found there was even more exciting than I expected, as the system occupied a sixth of the volume of a conventional packing machine and featured a robotic arm that was swiftly moving the objects that needed to be packed. All the moving parts were working in synchronicity to deliver perfect packages.
While watching the operations I realised that creativity is not just for artists: engineers have a disruptive creative power too. By capturing technological inventions like this on video, we can make people appreciate a different form of beauty.
